How It Works

Here's the simple process to get started:

1

Submit a Referral

Fill out our online referral form by February 6. Be sure to mention "Andrew Rural Academy".

2

We Gauge Interest

We need a minimum of 5 children to make on-site services at the school possible. After the deadline, screening and assessment, we'll follow up to discuss a plan for ongoing services.

3

Screenings & Assessments

We come out to the school for screenings and assessments. After that, we'll be in touch regarding therapy blocks and treatment plans if applicable.

Screening & Assessment Options

Screening

$110 + travel fee

Best if: You have questions or concerns, or just want to learn more about your child's development.

Our screening can cover:

  • Speech and language development
  • Occupational therapy areas
  • Mental health and counselling

Includes an in-person screening at the school and a report written by a Speech-Language Pathologist, sent to you within 2-3 weeks. A travel fee applies for on-site visits. This is a great first step, even if you're unsure whether your child needs services.

Can be submitted to Extended Health for reimbursement.

Full Assessment

$400 - $700

Best if: You know your child would benefit from speech-language services. For example:

  • They've previously had a report or identified delay
  • You've observed stuttering or speech sound errors
  • A teacher or other professional has raised concerns

A full SLP assessment gives us detailed information to plan therapy or provide strategies for home. Price varies depending on the complexity of your child's needs.

Therapy Blocks

Depending on interest, we may be able to offer ongoing therapy at the school in 8-session blocks.

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) / Occupational Therapist (OT)

Sessions include 45 minutes of direct therapy with your child and 15 minutes for documentation and planning.

Service Rate
SLP or OT Therapy Session (1 hour) $148
Travel Fee (per child, per day) $27

Therapy Assistant (TA)

TAs can work on both speech and occupational therapy goals, making them a versatile and cost-effective option. Sessions include 45 minutes of direct therapy and 15 minutes for documentation and planning.

Service Rate
TA Therapy Session (1 hour) $87
Travel Fee (per child, per day) $22

Counselling (Virtual)

Counselling sessions are delivered virtually by a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). Each session includes 50 minutes of direct support and 10 minutes for preparation and documentation. Often covered by extended health benefits.

Service Rate
Counselling Session (1 hour) $155

Note: Therapy is delivered in 8-session blocks. The travel fee is included in your receipt (not itemized separately) so you can submit the full amount to Extended Health for reimbursement.
