Speech-Language Pathology

Paulina Vazquez, M.Sc., RSLP

  • Registered SLP & Owner

    I'm a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with a Master of Science from the University of British Columbia. I love supporting bilingual families and I am fluent in both Spanish and English. I incorporate play, books, songs, and movement into my sessions to keep things fun and engaging.

    I am registered in both British Columbia (CHCPBC) and Alberta (ACSLPA). I'm also a Registered Autism Service Provider (RASP) for autistic children under age 6 in BC. I have completed additional training to administer the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), which allows me to participate in multidisciplinary assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am also listed on the Apraxia Kids directory for SLPs, indicating additional focus in my practice supporting individuals with Childhood Apraxia of Speech.

    When I'm not at the clinic, I'm spending time with my husband, David, and our two daughters, Ruby and Leni. I'm an avid reader will squeeze in a few chapters at any moment possible!

I love integrating kids' personal interests into therapy to make sessions fun and effective. I am fluent in German and English. For hobbies, I enjoy long walks, hiking, cross-country skiing, reading, and painting. I am registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

    Trained Orofacial Myologist

    I'm a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with a Master of Science from the University of Alberta. I have a wide range of experience from early language development to swallowing. I love getting to know kids and their families and strive to keep learning so I can provide fun and evidence-based service. I spend a lot of time being creative whether it’s sewing, knitting, drawing or playing piano. I am registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA) and certified by Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC).

    I'm a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with a Master of Science from the University of Alberta. My experience is broad, including many facets of speech and language such as Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), early language development and a variety of speech sound and motor speech differences. It is important to me to keep my speech therapy sessions child-led, fun, and dynamic for my pediatric clients, and I love having the client and their family involved when choosing goals to work on.

    Outside of being an SLP, I enjoy reading, being active, and hanging out with my friends and family, including my two little boys. I am registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA) and certified by Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC).

    Assessment & Consultation

    I am a Registered Psychologist with over 30 years of experience as an educator and consultant in the public school system. With a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and a Master of Education in School and Applied Psychology from the University of Calgary, I specialize in comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for children, youth, and adults. My main areas of focus include learning and developmental difficulties, social/emotional/behavioral challenges, giftedness, and ADHD.

    I believe that assessment is a valuable tool for understanding individual strengths and challenges. Combining assessment results with evidence-based, practical recommendations and strategies can help to support learning, development and overall success.  I also have additional training in trauma-informed and resilience-based  practices and the assessment of Autism. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, exploring the outdoors and traveling.

    I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta providing comprehensive psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. I have extensive experience conducting psychoeducational, autism, ADHD, cognitive, and mental health evaluations, and I am committed to delivering thorough, evidence-based care in a compassionate and collaborative environment.

    My goal is to help individuals and families gain a clearer understanding of their unique strengths and challenges while offering practical, actionable recommendations to support success across home, school, work, and everyday life.

Occupational Therapy

  • Registered Occupational Therapist

    I have worked as a pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) since I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2017. I love making therapy fun, and enabling families to feel comfortable and confident supporting their child.

    Outside of work, I enjoy reading, crafting, cooking, and spending time with my family.

  • Registered Occupational Therapist

    I have been working as a pediatric Occupational Therapist in schools and private practice since I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2022. I am passionate about sensory processing and how it impacts everything children do, from regulation to motor skills and activities of daily living. I have taken several continuing education courses on sensory processing, and I’m always eager to learn more every day - fortunately, I'll probably never run out of things to learn!

    Outside of work, I like to be out in the nature, bake more sourdough bread than I can possibly eat, spend time with my family, and cuddle with my cat.

  • Registered Occupational Therapist

    I have worked as an Occupational Therapist since graduating from University of Alberta (MSc OT) in 2017. I also have my Ba. Human Kinetics (Psychology Minor) from UBC-Okanagan (2015). I specialize in functional restoration and improved quality of life with a focus on daily activity balance, skill building for emotional regulation, and goal setting. When you work with me you can expect to be a part of my team, while we work together to identify goals and build skills to feel empowered to manage challenges!

    When I am not at work you can find me charging my own battery outdoors - biking, hiking, camping or playing in the pool with my husband and two young boys!

    I have worked as an Occupational Therapist in a variety of areas since I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2008. My practice approach is client-centered; I enjoy collaborating with clients and families to set meaningful goals and create customized treatment programs that are therapeutic and engaging. I describe myself as a lifelong learner and seek educational opportunities to provide clients with Occupational Therapy services that align with current best practice. I enjoy empowering clients, families and caregivers to participate in the functional activities that are important to them.
    When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am a mom to two amazing children who inspire me to grow. We are often outdoors or cuddling our pets. I also enjoy reading and photography.
    I am a registered Occupational Therapist with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) and a member of Society of Alberta Occupational Therapists (SAOT).

Counselling

  • I am a Canadian Certified Counselling Therapist (CCC) holding a Master of Applied Psychology from Athabasca University. I bring diverse experience in mental health, substance use recovery, and supportive counselling for individuals, couples, and families.

    With a particular passion for working with neurodiverse and special needs populations, I spent nearly a decade as a special education teacher and Life Skills program coordinator. In that role, I designed and implemented individualized education and transition plans, supported students with high- and low-incidence disabilities, and created safe, inclusive environments that fostered social, emotional, and life skills growth.

    This foundational experience deeply informs my counselling practice, where I use compassionate, strengths-based, and culturally sensitive approaches to help clients of all ages build resilience and achieve their goals.

    I also love working with young children & their families, and I run play therapy groups for children age 4+ to encourage a variety of social skills & build confidence in a supportive peer setting.

    I am thrilled to be part of the team at Ruby Therapy, offering in-person and virtual sessions in Alberta. I welcome the opportunity to support you on your path to greater well-being.

  • I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor with experience working with children, youth and families across age groups and presenting concerns. I hold a Bachelor of Education as well as a Masters Degree in Counselling, having previously worked as a teacher and school counsellor. Clients will experience a safe, supportive space to explore their feelings, build skills, and strengthen their relationships with self and others. Through integrated, developmentally appropriate therapeutic approaches, we work together as client and counsellor to foster positive growth and resilience.

Dietetics

    Hello! I'm Sawanee, a Registered Dietitian with a passion for helping children, teens, and families build a positive relationship with food. I believe nutrition should feel practical, achievable, and supportive - not overwhelming.

    I have experience working with a wide rage of nutrition concerns, including picky eating, ADHD, autism, sensory-based feeding challenges, growth and nutrition concerns, gastrointestinal conditions, chronic disease management, and disordered eating. My approach is family-centered, compassionate, and evidenced-based, meeting each individual where they are and helping them take realistic steps toward their goals.

    I hold a Master of Science in Human Nutritional Science from the University of Manitoba including two Bachelor of Science degrees (University of Alberta and Manitoba) and am a Registered Dietitian in Alberta. As both a Registered Dietitian and a parent, I understand that feeding children (and parents!) while supporting healthy habits can feel challenging at times. My goal is to help you develop confidence around food, improve health, and create sustainable habits that fit your life.

    II'm a Therapy Assistant with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Brigham Young University. I have experience supporting individuals with diverse learning and communication needs and am passionate about helping others build skills, gain confidence, and reach their full potential. I strive to build meaningful connections with the individuals and families that I work with while providing compassionate, individualized support.

Kristy Peterson, SLPA

  • Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant

    I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) with a BA in Sociology from the University of Winnipeg and over 25 years of experience in the Manitoba education system. I love planning game-based therapy sessions that engage kids and families. I work closely with SLPs to help clients achieve their goals. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, hiking, going to movies with my family, watching my boys curl, volunteering, and exploring Edmonton. I am certified with the Therapy Assistant Association of Alberta (ThAAA).

    I am a Therapy Assistant completing a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of Alberta. I have experience supporting individuals and families with a variety of communication and education goals, including working as a tutor since 2015. I am committed to providing meaningful personalized support. I love planning fun and dynamic sessions that are tailored to your child's needs and interests, and enjoy engaging with children in game-based and creativity-based therapy techniques. I am excited to meet you and your child, and support your unique goals!

    Outside of work, I enjoy reading, crafts, and the beach!

    I’m a Therapy Assistant with a diploma from NorQuest College. I have training in Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Recreation Therapy. I’m passionate about creating fun, meaningful, and supportive therapy experiences that help clients and their families reach their goals.

    Outside of work, I love exploring the Edmonton river valley, going for brunch, and spending time with my cat, George. I’m excited to get to know you and be part of your therapy journey!

Administrative Team

    I’ve spent many years working in office administration and management roles, coordinating schedules, and the many moving parts that keep things in the office running day to day. I enjoy being part of a team environment and helping both families and staff feel supported throughout the day. I’m fluent in English and Spanish.

    Outside of work, my life is busy in the best way with my two young boys and our forever foster dog, Jane. I’m passionate about animal rescue and volunteering in my community.
