Flourishing Futures - Therapy for Métis Children in St. Albert and Edmonton
Many families have accessed speech therapy, occupational therapy and psychology assessments at Ruby Therapy Services through the Flourishing Futures Accessibility Grant.
What is the Flourishing Futures Accessibility Grant?

Who Runs It:
The Métis Nation of Alberta runs Flourishing Futures and decides who is approved. Ruby Therapy Services is a service provider, not part of the grant. We do not review applications and we do not decide who is approved.
What It Helps Pay For:
The grant is aimed at Métis children in the early years, and helps pay for supports that address developmental, social, emotional and behavioural needs. Therapy and assessment are among the supports it can cover.
How the Money Moves:
The Métis Nation of Alberta pays the service provider named on the approved application. If you name Ruby Therapy Services, the Métis Nation of Alberta pays us. Your family does not pay us out of pocket for the services the grant covers.

How Ruby Therapy Services Works with Flourishing Futures
Here is what working with our clinic looks like for a family using this grant.

Applications ask you to say what service your child needs, who will provide it and what it costs. We prepare that quote or service plan for you, so you can attach it to your application to the Métis Nation of Alberta.

When your grant is approved and names Ruby Therapy Services, we invoice the Métis Nation of Alberta. Your family does not pay us out of pocket for the services the grant covers, and there is nothing to claim back afterwards.

Services That Can Be Covered
The following services are the ones families most often access through this grant at our clinic. What your grant actually covers is decided by the Métis Nation of Alberta and set out in your approval.

Our registered Speech-Language Pathologists provide therapy for speech sound difficulties, expressive and receptive language delays, late talking, childhood apraxia of speech, stuttering, social communication, and feeding and swallowing difficulties.

Coverage: Can be covered by Flourishing Futures, subject to what the Métis Nation of Alberta approves for your child.

Our registered Occupational Therapists help children build the skills they use every day: fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, self-care such as dressing and eating, printing and handwriting, attention, and emotional regulation.
Delivered By: Registered Occupational Therapists (OTs)
Coverage: Can be covered by Flourishing Futures, subject to what the Métis Nation of Alberta approves for your child.

Counselling for children and their parents, delivered by qualified clinicians. This includes support with big feelings, worry, behaviour at home and at school, grief, and family change.
Delivered By: Registered counselling and mental health professionals
Coverage: Can be covered by Flourishing Futures, subject to what the Métis Nation of Alberta approves for your child.

Psychoeducational assessments look at how a child thinks, learns and manages school tasks, and identify learning disabilities.
Autism assessments use standardised diagnostic tools to determine whether a child meets the criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder. Both end in a written report with recommendations.

Group sessions for children and for parents, including play groups, communication groups, literacy groups and a parent support group.

Your approval from the Métis Nation of Alberta sets out which services are covered and how much. We follow that approval. Before your child starts, we go through it with you so you know what is covered and what is not.
If part of what your child needs falls outside the approval, we tell you before services begin, not afterwards.
